The Arizona you know, retooled for ground that isn't a sidewalk. The CT — short for Crosstown — keeps everything that made the original a fifty-year staple: the anatomically contoured cork-latex footbed with its deep heel cup, longitudinal and transverse arch support and raised toe bar, and two adjustable straps with metal pin buckles that let you dial the fit in exactly. What changes is underneath. Instead of the classic flat EVA sole, the Crosstown rides on a lightweight polyurethane sole with a genuine traction pattern, so gravel, wet pavement and the walk in from the trailhead stop being a reason to change shoes.

The upper is oiled leather, and that is the other half of the story. It starts deep and matte, then takes on a patina as it flexes and creases around your foot, so the pair you own in three summers looks nothing like the one in the photo — in the good way. A suede lining keeps the footbed comfortable against bare skin. Cork needs a week or two of a few hours a day before it stops feeling firm and starts feeling like it was made for you; that break-in is the whole point of a Birkenstock. Just keep them out of the water — cork and oiled leather both suffer for a soaking.

Features
  • Anatomically contoured cork-latex footbed that moulds to your foot for custom support
  • Rugged polyurethane sole with a real traction pattern — grippier than the classic EVA Arizona
  • Oiled leather upper that develops a patina as you wear it
  • Suede footbed lining
  • Two adjustable straps with metal pin buckles
  • Unisex European sizing in whole sizes
Materials & Care
  • Upper material: Oiled leather — a heritage finish that darkens and picks up character as it creases around your foot.
  • Footbed: Anatomically contoured natural cork and latex, lined in suede leather.
  • Sole material: Polyurethane — lightweight, flexible and durable, with a rugged traction pattern.
  • Care: Wipe the leather with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air dry away from direct heat. Never submerge — soaking swells the cork and strips the oils out of the leather.
Size & Fit
  • Birkenstock uses European sizing in whole sizes only. This style runs EU 41–46, unisex.
  • It runs large against US numbering — most people take one size down from their usual US size. Use the size guide on this page for the exact conversion.
  • Aim for a few millimetres of space in front of your toes. Your toes should sit behind the raised toe bar, never on it.
  • Between two sizes? Size up rather than down — the footbed needs room to cradle the whole foot.
  • Regular width. Both straps open out on metal pin buckles, so there is real room to adjust across a wider or higher instep.
