Family-owned since 1972

Fine merino yarns give this sweater soft comfort, natural breathability and dependable warmth in cool and cold conditions — merino regulates temperature, manages moisture and keeps insulating even when it takes on damp. Wildlife scenes and geometric motifs are worked directly into the fabric by jacquard knitting, so the design has lasting texture rather than a printed finish. An open crewneck sits easy at the collar, and wide rib-knit cuffs and hem hold shape and seal in warmth. It layers cleanly under a jacket or wears well on its own, through daily rotation, travel and the length of the season.

About The Brand

Filson has outfitted people who work outdoors since 1897, when C.C. Filson began kitting out prospectors headed north to the Klondike. The promise then was the same one on the label today: might as well have the best. That means oil-finish Tin Cloth and Shelter Cloth waxed canvas that turns brush, weather, and abrasion; Mackinaw wool that stays warm wet; brushed cotton flannel and moleskin cut for a full day of motion; and hardware chosen to outlast the garment. Filson builds gear to break in rather than wear out, and backs it with a lifetime guarantee. At Mountain Sports, we love Filson because it is honest, repairable, heirloom-grade kit — the jacket you hand down, not the one you replace.
