Features
  • Coral-reef outsole. The tread pattern is styled after a coral reef, and OluKai are direct about why: it grips. Non-marking rubber, so it will not leave black scuffs on a boat deck or a pool surround.
  • Wet-sand contoured footbed. OluKai shape their footbeds on the feeling of a bare foot resting in wet sand — heel cradled, arch supported, toes free. It is the reason a $80 flip-flop feels different from a $15 one after four hours.
  • Quick-dry lining and a soft toe post. The straps are lined in quick-drying jersey knit and the toe post is soft nylon. That combination is what stops the rub between the first two toes that ruins most flip-flops on day one.
  • Water-friendly synthetic straps. Built to get wet and carry on — OluKai's word is water-resistant, not waterproof. Rinse the salt or chlorine off and they dry fast.
  • 'Ohana. Family — and in Hawai'i that means more than blood relatives. Pronounced oh-hah-na. It is OluKai's best-selling sandal and has been for years.
Size & Fit
  • Women's US 5–12, whole sizes only.
  • True to size — OluKai state it directly.
  • OluKai rate the fit Wide on their own scale, so this is a roomy sandal. Good news for wide feet; if yours are narrow, expect a generous fit rather than a snug one.
  • The arch is rated High, and the footbed is genuinely contoured. If you are used to flat flip-flops it will feel like more shape underfoot than you expect — that is the point of it.
  • The footbed is shaped from the factory. It softens with wear but does not re-mould to your foot the way cork does.

About the brand

OluKai was born from a love of the ocean and the Hawaiian belief that comfort should feel effortless. Every pair is built around an anatomical footbed inspired by the sensation of bare feet on wet sand, paired with premium leathers, breathable meshes and Wet Grip Rubber® soles that hold steady on damp decks and docks. As a certified B Corp, OluKai gives back through the Ama OluKai Foundation, supporting Hawaiian nonprofits and the people who keep island culture alive. At Mountain Sports, we love OluKai because it makes everyday shoes you actually look forward to putting on — barefoot-ready comfort that carries you from the water straight into town.

Olukai Size Chart - Women's Footwear

Olukai Sizing Chart

US sizes with foot length in centimeters and inches, as published by OluKai. OluKai footwear is offered in whole sizes only. Most styles fit true to size, but fit varies by style — a few, including the Honu, fit slightly small and OluKai recommend sizing up. Always check the Size & Fit section on the product page before ordering. If you normally wear a half size, size up to the nearer whole size.

Women's Footwear & Sandals Size Guide:

5 22.0 8.7 -
6 22.8 9.0 -

10 26.2 10.3 9

To find your size, stand on a flat surface and measure from your heel to your longest toe, then match that length to the chart. For sandals, your toes and heel should sit fully on the footbed.

Performance

How it ranks across conditions.

Calibrated against comparable products we stock, so you can compare like for like.

Cushioning

Firm
Moderate
Plush

Supportive rather than soft. The 'Ohana holds its shape underfoot — if you want the plusher, more premium feel, that is the Ho'opio.

Arch support

Low
Standard
High

High, and that is OluKai's own rating on their Size, Fit and Feel scale — not ours. This is a genuinely shaped footbed, which is why people wear these instead of a flat flip-flop when they are on their feet all day.

Traction

Low
Moderate
Aggressive

Non-marking rubber cut in a coral-reef pattern. Sure-footed on wet tile, decking and pool surrounds — a beach sandal, not a trail shoe.

Water use

Water friendly
Built for water

Water-friendly and water-resistant, with a quick-dry lining. Fine for the pool, the beach and the boat — rinse the salt or chlorine off afterwards.

Best for

Is this right for you?

Beach, pool and boat

This is the 'Ohana's home ground. Water-friendly straps, a quick-dry jersey lining and a non-marking rubber outsole that grips wet tile and will not scuff a deck.

Not for: Water-resistant, not waterproof — they are built to get wet and dry out, not to be left soaking. Rinse the salt or chlorine off afterwards. Roomier slide: Southshore

All day on your feet

OluKai rate the arch High on their own scale, and the footbed is properly contoured. That is why people wear these round the house and round town rather than a flat rubber flip-flop.

Not for: The cushioning is supportive rather than soft. If you want a plusher sandal underfoot, the Ho'opio is the softer one. Plusher option: Ho'opio

Travel

Packs flat, weighs nothing, dries fast and looks like a sandal rather than a pool shoe. The one pair that covers the flight, the beach and dinner.

Not for: A toe-post thong, so not the one for long walking days or anywhere you want your foot properly held. More shoe: 'Aka

Questions, answered

Before you buy.

Pulled from chats, emails and store visits. The things people actually ask us before they buy. Don't see yours?

Ask a question
Do these run true to size?

Yes — OluKai rate the 'Ohana True to size. Worth knowing: they also rate the fit Wide on their own scale, so it is a roomy sandal. If you have a narrow foot you may find your usual size a little generous; if you have a wide foot, this is one of the easier sandals to wear. Whole sizes only, US 5–12.

Can I get them wet?

Yes. The straps are water-friendly synthetic and the lining is quick-dry jersey knit, so they are built for the beach and the pool. OluKai's own word is water-resistant rather than waterproof — they handle getting wet and drying out, but do not leave them soaking. Rinse with fresh water after salt or chlorine.

Are they actually supportive, or just a nice flip-flop?

Supportive. OluKai rate the arch High on their own Size, Fit and Feel scale, and the footbed is contoured on the idea of a bare foot in wet sand — heel cradled, arch supported, toes free. That shaping is the whole reason the 'Ohana costs what it does. What it is not is soft: the cushioning is firm and holds its shape.

How do I clean them?

Fresh water, mild soap and a soft brush, then air dry away from direct heat and sun. The whole sandal is synthetic and rubber, so there is no leather to condition and no cork to seal. Never put them in a washing machine or leave them drying on a hot car dashboard — heat is what separates a sole from a footbed.

Will the toe post rub?

It is soft nylon rather than a hard moulded post, and the straps are lined in jersey knit, which is what OluKai have done specifically to stop the rub between the first two toes. Most people wear them straight out of the box. If you are prone to it, wear them for short spells the first couple of days and let the straps settle.
