Why a half-zip and not a full-zip?

Half-zips are about half the weight and half the bulk of an equivalent full-zip. The chest opening provides ventilation when you're working hard; full-zip versatility (taking it off in motion) isn't worth the weight for most active use.

Will it layer under a shell jacket?

Yes — half-zips are designed to layer cleanly under shells. The trim cut and lower bulk make this the standard active-use midlayer.

Does the zipper go all the way up?

On most products, yes — the zipper extends to the top of the collar so you can seal in warmth when conditions cool, or vent when you're working hard.

How does the cuff work?

Most products have ribbed cuffs that lock out drafts and stay put under gloves. Some include thumb loops for hand coverage on cold mornings — spec sheet confirms.

Is it warmer than a fleece pullover?

About the same warmth-to-weight; the difference is the half-zip ventilation. If you'll be in stop-and-go cold-weather activity, the half-zip wins. For static use, the pullover is simpler.
