Description
Our Short Lined Cruiser Jacket is made with Tin Cloth, our signature waxed cotton that has protected foresters and outdoorsmen from weather, brambles, and abrasion for a century. Its durable weather resistance is unequaled. Our waxed-cotton Tin Cloth from England's historic British Millerain weighs 14 ounces per square yard, twice the weight of imitations. Its uncommonly tight weave delivers outstanding tear strength and improved water resistance. Like heavy-duty denim, Tin Cloth breaks in and molds to the body's contours and flex patterns.
The cut is hip-length for easy access to pants pockets or a tool belt, and it won't ride up when seated. The torso is lined with lightweight canvas and the sleeves for easy layering. Metal-shank buttons secure the front, cuffs, and adjustment tabs at the hem. The left chest pocket is slotted for small tools or a carpenter pencil; the right is flap-covered for security. Bar-tack reinforced hand pockets.
Perfect for
Features
- 14-oz. oil-finish Tin Cloth. Waxed canvas at 14 oz. per square yard — roughly twice the weight of typical waxed cotton. It turns rain, brush, and abrasion.
- Re-waxable for life. When the finish dulls, re-wax it and the water repellency comes back. Tin Cloth is built to break in rather than wear out.
- Metal shank buttons. Shank buttons at the front, cuffs, and hem tabs work with gloved hands and outlast the fabric.
- Lined body and sleeves. Dry-finish Cover Cloth through the body and slick polyester twill in the sleeves, so it layers over a flannel without dragging.
- Cruiser pockets. A slotted utility pocket on the left chest for tools or a carpenter pencil, a buttoned flap pocket on the right, and hand pockets below.
Size & Fit
Close to the body. Size up if you're between sizes or want room to layer underneath.

About the brand
Filson has outfitted people who work outdoors since 1897, when C.C. Filson began kitting out prospectors headed north to the Klondike. The promise then was the same one on the label today: might as well have the best. That means oil-finish Tin Cloth and Shelter Cloth waxed canvas that turns brush, weather, and abrasion; Mackinaw wool that stays warm wet; brushed cotton flannel and moleskin cut for a full day of motion; and hardware chosen to outlast the garment. Filson builds gear to break in rather than wear out, and backs it with a lifetime guarantee. At Mountain Sports, we love Filson because it is honest, repairable, heirloom-grade kit — the jacket you hand down, not the one you replace.

Is this right for you?
Wet, brushy days
Waxed canvas turns rain and thorns that would shred a soft shell.
Not for: Warm days — 14-oz. waxed canvas runs hot and heavy. Canvas Outfitter Jacket
Work with a tool belt
The hip-length cut clears a tool belt and keeps pockets reachable when you're seated.
Not for: Standing still in deep cold — it's lined, but there's no insulation. Denim Tacoma Jacket
Camp & truck jacket
The one you leave in the truck for whatever the day turns into.
Not for: Anything that needs machine washing — waxed canvas is brushed clean, never laundered.
