Description

The Denim Tacoma Jacket brings back a familiar Filson style, updated for colder days. Built from midweight denim and fully insulated, it's a solid outer layer for daily wear when temperatures drop. The body is lined with Alaskan Guide flannel for added warmth, and the sleeves with polyester for easy layering. Cotton corduroy on the collar adds comfort when turned up in the cold. A durable zipper secures the front, and snap-adjustable cuffs help seal out wind. Welted angle-entry pockets sit clean at the front for quick access to essentials. Finished with a snap-close chest pocket.

Features
  • 40g full-body insulation. Quilted polyester fill through the body turns a denim jacket into genuine cold-weather outerwear without adding bulk.
  • Alaskan Guide flannel lining. The body is lined with Filson's own 8-oz. brushed flannel — the same warm, soft hand as the shirt.
  • Zip front, snap cuffs. A heavy-duty zipper closes the front and snap-adjustable cuffs cinch down to shut out wind at the wrists.
  • Polyester sleeve lining. Slick sleeve lining lets the jacket slide over a flannel or sweater instead of dragging on it.
  • Corduroy collar. Cotton corduroy at the neck stays comfortable turned up against the cold — no raw denim edge on your jaw.

About the brand

Filson has outfitted people who work outdoors since 1897, when C.C. Filson began kitting out prospectors headed north to the Klondike. The promise then was the same one on the label today: might as well have the best. That means oil-finish Tin Cloth and Shelter Cloth waxed canvas that turns brush, weather, and abrasion; Mackinaw wool that stays warm wet; brushed cotton flannel and moleskin cut for a full day of motion; and hardware chosen to outlast the garment. Filson builds gear to break in rather than wear out, and backs it with a lifetime guarantee. At Mountain Sports, we love Filson because it is honest, repairable, heirloom-grade kit — the jacket you hand down, not the one you replace.

Filson Size Chart - Men's Apparel

Filson Sizing Chart

Measurements are in inches. These are body measurements, not garment measurements. Use a flexible tape measure and record your body measurements to choose your best size. This is a general guide — fit varies between products, dependent on their intended use.

Men's Tops (shirts, jackets and outerwear):

Size Neck Chest Waist Natural Waist Pit to Pit Arm Length
XS 15.5" 35.5" 29" 35.5" 16.5" 33"

3XL 21" 53.5" 47" 53.5" 21" 38.25"

To measure: Neck — around the base of the neck where a collar sits. Chest — around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms. Waist — where the waistband of your pants normally sits. Arm length — from the center at the base of the neck, over the shoulder and elbow, to just past the wrist bone.

Filson's Tin Cloth and waxed-canvas jackets are cut trim to wear over a shirt. If you are between sizes or plan to layer, order up one size.

Men's Bottoms (pants — numeric waist):

Filson men's pants are sold by waist and length (for example 34 waist, Regular length). To check length, measure a pair of pants you already own along the inner seam from the crotch to the bottom of the hem: 30" and under is Short, 30–32" is Regular, 32" and over is Long.

If your measurements fall between sizes, choose the larger size for a looser fit or the smaller size for a snugger fit.

Questions, answered

Before you buy.

Pulled from chats, emails and store visits. The things people actually ask us before they buy. Don't see yours?

Ask a question
How warm is the Denim Tacoma Jacket?

Warm enough for most winter days in town. The 40g quilted insulation and Alaskan Guide flannel body lining put it in real cold-weather-jacket territory — comfortable in the 30s and 40s over a shirt, and lower with a sweater underneath.

Is it water resistant?

No. It's untreated cotton denim, so it blocks wind well but will wet out in sustained rain. If you need weather protection, look at Filson's Tin Cloth waxed canvas.

How does it fit?

Regular fit with room to layer a flannel or midweight sweater underneath. Filson's model is 6'0" and wears a Medium — take your usual size.

Can I wash it?

Yes. Machine-wash cold with a gentle detergent and tumble-dry low. Don't dry-clean it, and don't fold it while it's still wet.

What's the corduroy collar for?

Comfort. Turned up against the cold, corduroy is softer on the neck and jaw than raw denim — and it's a nod to the original Tacoma.
