Description
A visor helmet solves a problem most skiers have quietly accepted: goggles that fog, pinch, and leave a cold gap across your forehead. The Driver Prime carries a SIGMA lens on a magnetic mount instead, so it lifts out of the way on the lift and drops back down in one motion, and it is designed to be worn over prescription glasses rather than fought with.
Underneath it is the most protective helmet Salomon build. MIPS handles the twisting forces of an angled crash, EPS4D absorbs the straight-on ones, and Smart Safety 360 wraps EPP around the rest of your head rather than just the top. A BOA dial and a Fidlock magnetic buckle mean you can put it on and take it off with gloves, and the liner is 100% merino wool, which comes out and washes.
Perfect for
Features
- Magnetic SIGMA visor. A wide, low-distortion lens on a magnetic mount. Strong enough to stay put, easy enough to swap with gloves on, and built to sit over glasses.
- MIPS with EPS4D. MIPS reduces the twisting force of an angled impact; EPS4D is Salomon's own foam for straight-on absorption. Used together rather than as alternatives.
- Smart Safety 360. EPS4D on top with EPP wrapped all the way round, so the sides and back of your head get real protection rather than a thin shell.
- BOA® Fit System and Fidlock. A low-profile BOA dial micro-adjusts the fit, and the Fidlock buckle closes magnetically with one hand — both work in gloves.
- Merino wool liner. 100% merino, which breathes and resists odor far better than synthetic padding. It lifts out and washes.

- Comfort liner: 100% merino wool, removable and washable.

- Care: wipe the shell with a damp cloth and mild soap only, and clean the lens with the supplied bag rather than anything abrasive.
About the brand
From trail running to skiing, Salomon has been innovating for mountain life since 1947. Their performance-driven designs deliver precision and confidence wherever the adventure leads. At Mountain Sports, we love Salomon because it’s built for those who play hard in the outdoors — all year long.

Is this right for you?
Skiing in glasses
Salomon list this helmet as prescription-glasses compatible, and a visor sits far enough off your face to make that workable in a way most goggles do not.
Not for: A visor is more exposed than a goggle in a crash or a tree branch, and a scratched lens is a replacement rather than a cheap fix. Prefer goggles? Browse ours
Changing light
Two lenses in the box: a Category 3 for sun and a Category 2 for cloud. The magnetic mount means swapping them takes seconds at the top of a lift.
Not for: Neither lens is a low-light or night category, so a genuinely dark storm day will still be dim. Browse all ski helmets
Maximum protection
MIPS, EPS4D and Smart Safety 360 together. If protection is the reason you are buying, this is Salomon's most complete answer.
Not for: It is heavier and costlier than a simple in-mold helmet, and it is certified to the European ski standard only. Everything else for the hill
