Description

Wide feet get the short end of the ski boot market, and the Delta 100 is Salomon's answer to that. The last is 102 mm, which is genuinely wide rather than 'comfort fit' wide, the second buckle sits at an angle so it locks your heel without crushing your instep, and the shell plastic is thinner where your foot needs the room. It is a performance boot that happens to fit a foot most performance boots ignore.

The cuff is the other half of it. Salomon give this boot a three-position calf adjuster and what they claim is the largest cuff perimeter on the market at 500 mm, so a calf that has never closed comfortably in a ski boot has somewhere to go. It also arrives with a GripWalk sole already fitted, which means the walk from the parking lot is less of an ordeal than it usually is.

Features
  • 102 mm anatomic last. A genuinely wide shell rather than a wide-ish one, with thinner plastic exactly where a broad foot needs the room.
  • 3-position calf adjuster. Neutral, narrow or wide, giving up to 11 mm more perimeter and 4 mm more height. Salomon claim 500 mm — the largest cuff perimeter on the market.
  • 3D Instep Shell. Thinner plastic and a 45-degree second buckle lock the heel down without pressing on the top of the foot, which is where instep pain starts.
  • Custom Shell™ HD. A bootfitter can heat and reshape the lower shell, or the shell and cuff together, in about ten minutes.
  • My Instant Fit Sport liner. Anatomically shaped for foothold and warmth, with Autostretch elastic sides that adapt to the shape of your calf.
Size & Fit
  • Ski boots are sized in Mondopoint, the length of your foot in centimeters, not a shoe size
  • A 102 mm last, classified wide by Salomon
  • The calf adjuster has three positions and adds up to 11 mm perimeter and 4 mm height
  • Standing upright your toes should just brush the front; flexing forward should pull them back
  • Liners pack out with use, so a boot that feels roomy new will feel loose by midseason
  • We stock 26.5, 27.5, 28.5 and 29.5 in this model

Materials
  • Boot shell: polyurethane with 3D Instep Shell and Custom Shell HD thin-wall construction.
  • Cuff: polyolefin, for durability with light weight.
  • Liner: My Instant Fit Sport with Autostretch elastic sides.

Flex index 100 and Salomon rate the stiffness Medium. Enough boot for a confident intermediate without demanding a race stance.

Fit width

A 102 mm last, classified wide by Salomon. This is the reason to look at this boot rather than the Supra.

Warm

Salomon publish no warmth rating, but they describe the My Instant Fit Sport liner as a warmer fit. Comfortable for resort days, not an insulated touring liner.

Walkability

GripWalk sole

Salomon supply this boot pre-mounted with a GripWalk sole, so the rubber tread and rockered shape make walking to the lift far easier than a flat alpine sole.

Best for

Is this right for you?

Wide feet and big calves

A 102 mm last and a three-position calf adjuster. If you have spent years leaving the top buckle open or having shells punched, start here.

Not for: A narrow foot will swim in it. Volume you do not need is just as bad as volume you cannot get. Narrower foot? Browse all ski boots

Intermediate resort skiing

Groomers and easier off-piste at a confident pace. A 100 flex holds an edge without punishing you late in the day.

Not for: Not enough boot for an expert skiing fast in bad snow. A 120 flex transmits more. Need the skis too? Browse our skis

Walking to the lift

GripWalk soles come fitted, so the car park, the stairs and the lift line are far less treacherous than in a flat-soled alpine boot.

Not for: GripWalk is not a touring sole. There is no walk mode and no tech fitting. Everything else for the hill

Questions, answered

Before you buy.

Pulled from chats, emails and store visits. The things people actually ask us before they buy. Don't see yours?

Ask a question
What does the flex number actually mean?

It is how hard the boot resists your shin pushing forward. Higher numbers resist more. The scale is not standardized between brands, so a 100 from one maker is not exactly a 100 from another. As a rough guide, 90 to 100 suits most intermediates, 110 to 120 suits strong skiers, and 130 and up is race territory.

How do I know if I need a wide last?

Measure the width of your foot at the ball while standing. Under about 98 mm is narrow, around 100 mm is medium, 102 mm and over is wide. This boot is a 102 mm wide last. Width matters more than length for comfort, so if you are unsure, come in and get measured rather than ordering on a guess.

What does the calf adjuster do?

It changes how far the cuff opens at the top, in three set positions: neutral, narrow and wide. At its widest it adds about 11 mm of perimeter and 4 mm of height. If you have ever had to ski with the top buckle undone because the cuff bit into your calf, this is the fix.

Will these work with my bindings?

These come pre-mounted with GripWalk soles, which are the rockered, rubbered soles now standard on many alpine boots. Most modern bindings are GripWalk compatible, but older bindings built only for ISO 5355 flat soles are not. Check your binding or bring it in — a mismatched sole affects release, so this one is worth getting right.

How should a ski boot fit compared with a shoe?

Much tighter. Standing upright, your toes should just brush the front of the liner; flexing forward should pull them back off it. Ski boots are sized in Mondopoint, the length of your foot in centimeters, so your shoe size is only a starting point. Liners also pack out, so a boot that feels roomy new will feel loose by midseason.
