In 1939, 6-7 years after inventing the world's first liquid dampened orienteering compass, the team at Silva introduced the "Model 1939." This new innovation paired the liquid dampened capsule and clear base plate together with a mirror and sight feature for pinpont navigation in the field. While the name and features evolved over the years, one thing remained the same - Silva quality. To celebrate the 75th Anniversary we are introducing a special edition model - built in the tradition of the first Ranger sold in the States.
