The New Balance Fresh Foam X Hierro v9 is the trail shoe for people who would rather not feel the trail. Underfoot is the most cushioned Fresh Foam build New Balance make, run in two densities - softer against the foot for comfort, firmer beneath so a tall, soft shoe still sits steady when the ground stops being flat.

Grip comes from a Vibram® Megagrip™ outsole with Traction Lug™ and a re-cut tread, which is what holds on wet rock and loose dirt alike. Toe Protect takes the hits from rocks and roots, and a gusseted tongue keeps grit out of the shoe. Neutral, 4 mm drop, built for long days on real trail.

About The Brand

New Balance has been making shoes in New England since 1906, and still runs its own factories in the United States — a rare thing in modern footwear. The range stretches from the 574 to carbon-plated racers and track spikes, but the constant is fit: multiple widths, a size run that goes where other brands stop, and shoes built to be run in rather than looked at. At Mountain Sports, we carry New Balance because it takes fit seriously — and because a shoe that actually fits is the one you will keep reaching for.
