La Sportiva Sizing Chart
La Sportiva footwear is built on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes — giving you more sizes per run and a more precise fit. Sizes marked with a + are intermediate European half sizes.

Fitting Hiking and Mountain Boots:
For mountain boots, find your US size in the chart, go across to your European size, then add one half size. Try boots on with the socks you intend to wear in the field, along with any orthotics or custom footbeds. The right size holds your toes slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing is snug across the top of your arch — with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front, you should be able to slip one finger behind your heel.
- Try boots on later in the day, since feet swell slightly as the day progresses.
- Wear new boots indoors until you are confident in the fit.
- Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket, with minimal heel lift as you walk.
- Your toes should not touch the front of the boot, but you want just enough room to wiggle them.
- If your toes or the sides of your feet feel squished, the width is likely too narrow; if your toes touch the front, go up a half size.
Fitting Climbing Shoes:
Climbing shoes use the same size conversion chart, fitted down from your street shoe size. As a general rule, soft gym and sport shoes fit two to three sizes below your street shoe size, and trad shoes one to two sizes below. Factor in stretch: unlined slip-lasted shoes stretch about one full size, while lined shoes stretch about a half size. A well-fit, comfortable shoe will climb better than an ill-fitting tighter one.
